If Bird Feeders are to Feed the Birds then...

On our way home from celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in Portage, we made our way to see some good friends of our Jody and Chong in Baraboo. Last minute circumstances landed us spending the night at their home, and then heading out in the morning to my father-in-law's farm. I followed Joe along the back roads between Baraboo, and Reedsburg where along the way I spotted some old school Schoessow Feeder Wagons. (The ones with the press wood panels and that have Schoessow written across the side in white instead of S.I. Feeders.) Feeling the nostalgia of my childhood days I point and call out to the boys, "There's some Schoessow Feeders" Giovonnie asks, "What's a Schoessow Feeder?" I shoot a quizzical look over my shoulder at him, and say, "Those green wagons out there; that Grandpa and his brother’s business builds for farmers to put hay in for their animals..." Giovonnie responds with a giggle, "Oh, I thought they were to feed all the Schoessows!”

Book Review: Then Sings My Soul by Robert J. Morgan

When I received this book, Then Sings My Soul by Robert J. Morgan, for a book review I thought that the cover was simply beautiful, and the deckled edges of the pages that it bound were unique. I read the back and inside covers, and looked over the content of the book with a quick glance before started really reading the book.

I noticed that it carried many songs that I knew, and as soon as I would see a title, I could start humming, or singing the song. Not only did it hold religious song, but it also holds patriotic songs. Alongside the songs with the words and musical scripts, the book relates the stories of how the songs came to be, who wrote them, or had the songs first published and why. It was interesting to find out the background to some of the songs I knew.

Although, I wouldn’t recommend this book to everyone I crossed paths with, I would highly recommend the book to anyone who wanted to have their own hymnal, someone who was musical inclined, as well as thought who love music or a sweetly written devotional as there is biblical scripture on every story page.

To My Husband ~ on Veterans Day

It almost seems like ages ago, when we first started dating and you went off to basic training, and then AIT. I remember the first time  I went to visit you at some church Christmas service after you went to basic, and I thought I'd never find you in that sea of green. Later, when you were in AIT, I'd come to see you on weekends, and you'd sneak off base. Or how 'bout when you had to do Iron Mikes all the way to the mess hall with one of your buddies when we got back to late from one of your leave times. After we were married, I can easily recall you getting up at the butt crack of dawn to shave and dress in your BDUs for drills on weekends, and you'd go for you two weeks in the summers. And even with all that I never really expected you to go off to war. I didn't truly believe it when you were on the phone with your unit as we were in the delivery room, me giving birth to Giovonnie. Holding a two week old baby while you said good bye set in a reality that you were going; I was thankful when you only served state side, and then came home. I think it prepared us for that time when you would serve over seas. I was sad to see you leave, yet proud you were willing to follow your heart to willing serve your country.

We (Royce, Giovonnie, and I) missed you dearly, and when Christmas came around I was proud that Royce Lee thought of you and asked to hang you ID tags you gave him on our Christmas tree.

Joe and some battle buddies.

When you came home we were glad!

Home Coming Dec. 2006

Our lives were changed, and we found that we had to make some adjustments (and find in some ways  we still are).

It seems strange to think of you and some of our friends as veterans; it's almost as if you are all too young. When I hear the term veteran I often think of men who are our parents ages, or grandparents, and I have to remind myself that you are a veteran as well.

"Thank You for serving."

I Won! I Have'ta brag...

Remeber when I blogged about by bloggy friends first giveaway?! Well, I can't believe it, but I must be having a winning stireak.
Fist a few months back I won a cool t-shirt from my cousin-in-laws/friends blog Journey of Grace when she did a t-shirt giveaway for the book Immanuel’s Veins written by Ted Dekker.

"Thank you," for the giveaway.
I love the t-shirt.
(Sorry about the horribly streaky mirror.)

I've also won a copy of Scholastic's "Dear America" Series from Squeaky Clean Reads, which has told me my book is on it's way. Squeaky Clean Reads does tons of book giveaways if any of you are interested.

Now I've won the CSN gift code from the giveaway that *Keepin it Thrifty*  hosted! As I blogged for my giveaway for CSN, I did buy something for my husband for Christmas, which I will write a review on after we open our gifts at home. I'm so excited because my oldest son helped me pick it, and I know that he'll really like it and use it. :) I can't wait to give it to him, almost. lol

Thank you to all you. I'm so glad that I was able to win these products that you've offered, and thank you to those who have sponsored your giveaways. :)

All Aboard, the CSN Giveaway Train!

This Giveaway is Now Closed.

I've been seeing CSN giveaways and reviews on a number of blogs, and here I am hopping on the the Giveaway Train! I'm so excited to say that I've been asked to hold a CSN giveaway for a $35.00 gift code. I recently was moving along the CSN site searching for a good Christmas gift for my hubby, I looked a barstool, or two. (Ok, so I really don't have a place in my home for something like this, but they are so cool.)
Come on what guy wouldn't love a barstool
that held both your drink  and pool stick,
or just a barstool with an eight ball for the
pool hall?
I could totally see Joe have something like this if he ever got his game room with a bar. However, I did find him something more practical, that I know he will like and use. However, do to having to up hold the tradition of Christmas gift secrecy you'll have to wait until after our family Christmas for the CNS review to learn what it is.

As for myself I'm crossing my fingers that I'd get some new stoneware dinnerware,

Of course I even took look around at some really great toys for my boys

Anyhow, so now that I'm on board, I'd like all of you to jump on with me, so take a look around CSN online store, then pop back here and enter into my giveaway.

"Est Ba-a-daee Ev-er."

Nov. 5, 2010 was my baby boy, Gannon's 2nd birthday! We spent the day watching his newly favorite show Go Diego Go on Netflix instant play and mommy baking a birthday cake and finishing his blanket that I was making for him while the big brothers were in school. Daddy came home from work sick (poor Daddy). I almost thought something was horribly wrong when he called saying he was on his way home, which he hasn't done in the 3 years he's worked there. He laughed and said he should have played it like he got fired, or something. Once we all were home the pizza was ordered and we held our party in the living room watching a movie on TV while we ate. Then it was time to open presents (because we were all to full for cake and ice cream).

Gannon would say, "Rip, rip, rip." while opening his gifts.

Daddy was the box opener when Gannon couldn't get the toys
out of the box. Gannon would hold the box out toward Daddy
saying, "It's stuck, stuck! Hurry, help, Daddy."

Happy to get his birthday gifts.

Birthday Cake Time

Ok, so the cake was suppose to be Diego, but I didn't do such a
great job. However, Gannon knew it who it was, and wouldn't
blow out his candle.

I also gave it a strawberry preserve filling, which was yummy on a white cake
with homemade butter cream frosting,
Eating cake.

Skip the fork, fingers are faster.

Royce put Gannon's blanket I made on his
bed then we took Gannon to go see it. In a mild voice
Gannon said, "its the est ba-a-daee ev-er."...
(Its the best birthday ever.
Something he's heard his brothers say)

...then he hugged his new Diego blanket.
